What You Should Know About Windows vs Mac OS
There are Mac people and Windows people, but the truth is that they both have their own advantages. Both are always upgrading their OSes. Mac’s most recent operating system is Lion and Windows users are anxiously awaiting the impending release of Windows 8. Keep reading to learn both what Mac and Windows can offer you.
Windows is better suited to computer users who are going to be using their computers in concert with a variety of external devices. As an example, if you buy a new computer with Windows 7, it will probably have a Blu-ray player built into it alongside a memory stick reader, multi-format card readers, etc. A lot of people want to be able to connect their computers to their television sets and when you own a Mac, this requires a special converter tool. Computers that have Windows 7 installed, though, are usually able to directly connect to your TV set. This makes it a lot easier to watch Internet based videos on your TV set. With the exception of devices made by Apple, computers with Windows have a much easier time being compatible with external devices than computers with Mac OS. Many of the most popular products made by Apple today aren’t computers, but iPhones, iPods and iPads. Obviously if you are a Mac user, it’s really easy to connect these devices to your computers. When you are a Mac user, you’ll have free access to the iCloud service and that will make it very easy to sync your computer with your iPad, your iPod and your iPhone. So fans of downloading content directly to their mobile devices will have an easier time keeping everything synced and transferred to their Mac computers. Of course, this is only a benefit if you like to use Apple’s mobile devices. Windows users, on the other hand, generally have a far more difficult time keeping their computers and their mobile devices synced.
Neither system is that much better than the other one, and don’t let anyone tell you so. Back in the past a program only worked with a Windows system or it worked only with a Mac system, so the two systems didn’t have much in common. Things have changed with both PCs and Macs, as they can use most devices now, along with whatever software it takes to run them. The new Macs, which you might have, are able to run Windows, and that is a big change. For most computer users, you will be able to do anything you need to do, with either computer, but there are still a few specialized areas, which makes one superior to the other.
You aren’t going to find a 100% accurate answer about whether Mac or Windows is the better operating system. Each OS has its die hard fans, but each OS also has definite advantages. It’s important to give careful consideration to what you need your OS to do, how much you can afford to spend, etc and then choose the OS that best matches those things.
